Rabbi Joshua Ratner

Senior Rabbi

Rabbi Joshua Ratner is the Senior Rabbi of PJTC. Prior to arriving at PJTC, he served as the rabbi of Or Hadash, a Conservative synagogue in Fairfield, CT.  Rabbi Ratner previously worked as the Jewish Chaplain at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, as the director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New Haven, as a Rabbi and Jewish Educator at Yale University, and as the rabbi of Congregation Kol Ami in Cheshire, CT.

Rabbi Ratner was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary in May 2012. He was a Joseph Neubauer Fellow and, while at JTS, also earned a Master’s Degree in Midrash, a Certificate in Pastoral Care, and received training in congregation-based community organizing. Rabbi Ratner is a graduate of Columbia University and Columbia Law School, and he worked as an attorney for five years prior to entering rabbinical school.

Rabbi Ratner serves on the Rabbinical Assembly’s Social Justice Commission and was a board member of Hazon (now called Adamah), a national Jewish environmental organization.  He is married to Dr. Elena Ratner and they are the proud parents of Dimitri, Eli, Gabby, and Sasha.
