Rosh Chodesh, A Celebration

Rosh Chodesh is a holiday for everyone, but women have a special attachment to the day. For at least 2,000 years, Jewish women have celebrated the appearance of the New Moon in their own way. It was a day women took off from their family chores, or a one or two day vacation. They honored every month in a special way. They would light candles, tell one another stories, and just enjoy one another's company.

Sisterhood invites our women members to participate in a monthly Rosh Chodesh/New Moon gathering. We say a prayer that our own Franci Levine Grater has written. We schmooze and catch up on our daily lives.

I invite you to Rosh Chodesh Sh'Vat on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. We will feature our own Regina Rock who will discuss her three books. She has written "Post Holocaust Baby," where she shares stories of her childhood. Her second work, "Girl in the World," is a collection of short stories and poems. "Displaced Between Promise and Dread," is her third book about fictionalized compilation of stories, essays, and poems. She might even get us to do some writing!

We are meeting in person at the home of Nancy Carlton.

2440 Galbreth Road, Pasadena, CA 91104

     Hope to see you there!
