Bnai Mitzvah August

Josh Copi

Josh Copi, 14, has been a dedicated artist and student for many years.  Always curious and eager to learn, he applies his energy to his studies as well as his school and home art projects

with equal drive.  Josh is an excellent group facilitator who uses his empathy to help people

communicate better with each other.  Josh plans to work in the film industry when he grows up, and recently has been making sculptures, molds and masks using silicone, latex, and various types of clay.  He also enjoys making ceramics, doing special effects makeup and making costumes for stage productions which he worked hard on all year at school. Josh will attend California School of the Arts San Gabriel for high school beginning this fall.

Jack DeBoskey

On August 12, Jack Levi DeBoskey will be called to the Torah to become Bar Mitzvah. Jack is the son of Geoffrey and Jennifer DeBoskey, and younger brother to Rebekah. He will soon begin his 8th grade year at Rosemont Middle School where he enjoys learning, the "Finer Things Club", his friends, and student government.  Indeed, having completed a successful term as 7th Grade Class President (i.e., not being deposed in a lunchtime coup), the campus is eagerly awaiting his reelection campaign decision.

Jack is funny, affectionate, outgoing, intellectually curious, and extremely enthusiastic about nearly everything in life including burgers, historical facts, and airport lounges.  However, his love for everything sports (and by "sports" we mean ALL of them) requires a separate mention.  Jack knows the details of nearly every player and the intricate strategy of almost every play, attends more sporting events in a year than most anyone sees in an entire lifetime, will often watch three sporting events at a time, loudly fills the house with play-by-play broadcasts of his XBox matches, and has his own following of fans who are amazed by his cheering from the stands.

For his Mitzvah project, Jack has been volunteering to referee AYSO soccer games, quickly progressing from sideline roles to the youngest head game referee in our region's history.  He recently finished refereeing a major local charity soccer tournament, and was extremely proud to be awarded by his fellow referees (all adults) a coveted can of field paint for penalty kick lines.

Hannah Stieglitz

Hannah Pauline Stieglitz, daughter of Daniel and Abigail Stieglitz, and older sister to Emily, will be called to the Torah on August 26th as a Bat Mitzvah. Hannah is an 8th grader at La Canada High School, and was recently admitted to honors mathematics. Hannah is incredibly creative, both when baking new creations in the kitchen, or when utilizing random objects around the house to produce unique art displays. When she wants some down time, Hannah often spends her time listening to music, while working on her newest drawing. Hannah is an avid reader, and enjoys mostly drama and fantasy books. Hannah has been in the cast of a few plays, and is looking forward to her 8th grade drama class. In the last two years, Hannah has spent a lot of her free time creating and editing short films.

Hannah is a shining example of what it is to be a good and strong person. Hannah's friends describe her as a talented artist, loyal friend, smart, creative, funny, caring, energetic, and a lot of fun to hang out with. Hannah's family describe her as intelligent, artistic, kind, funny, and dependable. Hannah's friends and family are very proud of her accomplishments, and are overjoyed to celebrate her being called to the Torah.
