If you missed the extraordinary interview by Shawn Paper of two of the principles involved in the making of the drama miniseries “A Small Light,” you can watch it now on the PJTC YouTube channel.  Take 45 minutes  to discover the impact this series can have in combatting anti-Semitism.

We need a name for our budding tradition of presenting a gift book to each new bar or bat mitzvah.  At Rosh Hashanah you will see the brochure to introduce our community to this program, and it would be great to have suggestions for a title. Thanks to Daphna Enzer, Bonnie Skolnick, Peter Dreier, and Barbara Levinson, who comprised the SJC committee creating this program—compiling and vetting the book list, structuring the program, and developing ideas to ensure a successful and meaningful addition to PJTC. Send suggestions for a brochure title to SJCPJTC@GMAIL.COM.

Thanks to Howard Landau for his work on crafting Bylaws for SJC. Our foundational documents are now in a more standard format--in line with the expectations for a PJTC standing committee, a designation that we hope will soon be approved by the PJTC Board.

SJC has enjoyed field trips and off-site gatherings at Eaton Canyon, members’ homes, the Social Justice Museum at Olvera Street, to name a few.  Our first July Meeting was held in the heat at the 1919 Café at the Huntington Gardens.  Our co-chairperson had originally wanted to convene for pastrami at Langers.  Alas, Langers is closed on Sundays.  Let Carl know if you have an idea for a place to meet and talk, or meet and eat, or just get together to add to our regular on-site PJTC meetings.
