Bnai Mitzvah - May

 Noah Posin - Bar Mitzvah

Noah, son of Stuart and Kim Posin, and older brother to Brooklyn, will be called to the Torah on May 27. Noah has attended Polytechnic School since kindergarten and is currently in 9th grade. Noah has taken a less traditional path to being called to read from the Torah, having found the calling on his own. He learned to read Hebrew with his Savta and asked to go through this process, rather than being required to.

While school takes priority, Noah’s passions are reading, playing soccer, drumming, and caring for his pets. He loves the sciences, especially animal related, and is considering a future in veterinary medicine, perhaps with a focus on zoo animals. He has been a Boy Scout for four years and is working to become an Eagle Scout in the next year. He loves the outdoors, especially the Rocky Mountains and dreams about having a ranch someday.

Abby Nunez - Bat Mitzvah

Abigail Nunez, daughter of Daniel and Mabel Nunez-Martinez, will be called to the Torah on May 20th as a Bat Mitzvah. Abigail is a brilliant example of what it is to be a determined, decisive, responsible and a kind person. When she is not reading and working out puzzles or playing backgammon, she is always rereading an old favorite book. Abigail (Abby) already speaks, English, Spanish and Japanese. When Abby was 7 years old, she learned how to crochet and knit. Starting this Summer, she plans to start learning French and to go back to gymnastics.

Cassidy Browning Bat Mitzvah

Cassidy Browning, daughter of Michele and Dave Browning, and sister to Carson, will be called to the Torah on May 13, 2023 as a Bat Mitzvah.

Cassidy is a 7th grade honors student at CIS Academy in Pasadena as well as an active member at PJTC.  Cassidy is the co-chair of the Kadima Committee and on the USY board.  Cassidy recently completed her first Pop-up restaurant as a front-of-the-house server as well as having a key role in the accompanying film!  Cassidy has a passion for theater that is only surpassed by her love of forensic science.  Cassidy is just a girl who loves Hebrew and loves being Jewish! Having only begun her religious education in the third grade, she has come so far in such a short time.

In one word, Cassidy is resilient.  Regardless of what comes her way, she will meet the challenge head on.  A determined leader for social justice, Cassidy is committed to many opportunities for service at PJTC and values the space when what she sees wrong in this world and the talents she has can be best put to use.

In this vein, Cassidy noticed how many people struggle with child care and how parents want to be a part of services but may not have options for their young children.  For her bat mitzvah project, Cassidy has decided to create a child care option for parents during Shabbat services on Saturdays.  Cassidy has reached out to several post-B'nai Mitzvah students to help "staff" this offering for PJTC members.
