Board Report

On February 27, our synagogue had two meetings, back-to-back. The first was a meeting of the congregation, including the board of directors. The first order of business was our new board slate. Following an introduction by board president Stacey Sharp, Geoff DeBoskey, nominations committee chairperson, presented the new proposed slate of board directors. DeBoskey recognized the members of the nominations committee, namely, Albert Hayden, Sue Hogan, Rebecca Johnson, Cathy Krasner, Peter Mendel, Adriana Quinn and Meredith Rose. Incoming president Jack Singer discussed his upcoming term. The congregation approved the slate via online poll.

This is the new board slate, effective April 1, 2023 through May 30, 2025: President: Jack Singer; VP Programs: Stephanie Ivler; VP Management: Richard Rosenbaum; Secretary: Phil Callahan; Treasurer: Clark Linstone; VP Planning: Erich Schlecht; Sisterhood President: Nancy Carlton; Men’s Club President: Fred Rotenberg; At Large Directors: Adriana Quinn, Todd Levine, Sara Michelson, Daphna Enzer, Terry Tornek, Sue Hogan and Stacey Sharp.

Next, during the congregation meeting, after a brief introduction by president Stacey Sharp, the congregation received informational presentations from the following synagogue officials: Melissa Levy, Executive Director; Rabbi Aimee Gerace, Education Director; Cantor Ruth Berman Harris; Rabbi John Carrier;
Jack Singer, Treasurer; Andrea Mark, VP Planning; and Stacey Sharp, Board President.

After the congregation meeting, without delay, the synagogue's board of directors, with members of the congregation present, held its regularly-scheduled meeting. President Stacey Sharp briefly explained the status of negotiations regarding a new contract for Cantor Berman Harris. Sharp stated that at the next meeting, the board would be asked to approve the contract. The board and congregation received updates from Sean Surfas and Cathy Krasner regarding the ongoing searches for both an interim and a permanent rabbi, respectively. Next, Sharp explained the background of the Jewish Equity Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee. The board approved the formation of the committee, and Sharp appointed Diane Burr and Carey McIntosh as committee co-chairs. Sharp also named Ali Linder as chair of the newly-reconstituted synagogue Green Committee.
