Bnai Mitzvah - January

JACK ARTZ  

       Jack, son of Andrew and Shana,will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on January 7th.  He was born in Chicago and moved to the Los Angeles area with his family three years ago.

   As a seventh grader at La Canada High School, his favorite subject is English. Extracurricular interests include wrestling,

acting in local plays, playing with his dog, cooking, creative writing, biking and a nascent interest in diving.

    Jack’s Judaic education started early in Chicago, where he attended the Jewish Enrichment Center, followed by LBSRS and as a member of our USY here at PJTC after the family’s move to La Canada. 

     For his mitzvah project, Jack has explored different opportunities through the Sierra Club and his school.

 

ANNA MUKHERJEE

  

 Anna Mukherjee, daughter of Dori and Matt Mukherjee, will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on January 21st. Anna is in the 7th grade at Flintridge Preparatory School, where she kicked off the year on the volleyball and soccer teams.

    Anna is committed to trying new sports as they are offered throughout the year and enjoys being part of a team. Friends are very important to Anna and she’s grateful for the close friends she’s had since elementary school and the new friends she’s made in her first year at Prep.

    This year Anna began volunteering with National Charity League and has enjoyed her time as a teacher's aide at Valentine Elementary. Anna’s parents and grandparents, including long- time PJTC members Karen and Clark Linstone, are so proud of the thoughtful and hard working young woman Anna has become. Her brothers Noah and Sam are looking forward to celebrating this special simcha with Anna and again with their cousin Max on the following weekend!

 

 

 

 

MAX MICHELSON

    On January 28th,. Max Logan Michelson, son of Matt and Sara, will be called to the torah as a bar mitzvah. He will be on the same bima where his mom became a bat mitzvah at PJTC. Max is a 7th grader at La Canada High School.

     Continuing the family tradition, Max has a deep love for the Dodgers, and during baseball season can be found in the stands at almost all home games. In addition to baseball, he loves golf and video games. He has dedicated himself to improving at golf and on many weekends’ plays in competitive tournaments. He is also busy playing on two baseball teams, where he pitches, plays first base and outfield.

     Max has been a certified scuba diver since he was 11, He has gone on more than 15 dives in Hawaii and Bora Bora (and will dive in the Red Sea in Israel this summer). His favorite dives include night diving with giant Manta rays in Kona, shark diving in Bora Bora and hanging with huge sea turtles and octopuses in Maui. He is also an avid snorkeler and fisherman, though his luck on the lines isn’t great.
