November Board Report

During the October 24 board meeting, board president Stacey Sharp designated DeBoskey to serve as chair of board Nominations Committee. He is charged with leading a committee to propose a slate of the new board at the November board meeting. Sharp will send an email following the meeting soliciting suggestions for people to serve on the committee. The board designated Jack Singer as backup authorized agent on a security grant our synagogue received earlier this to fund upgrades to our facility. Treasurer Jack Singer presented his written reports, namely as Treasurer and Budget Committee Chair, which had been circulated before the meeting. Singer addressed board member questions on various topics. President Stacey Sharp provided updates on, among other things, the upcoming time capsule dedication, progress on long-awaited repairs to our roof, meetings and coordination with the B’nai Simcha preschool, and security upgrades to our campus funded by the security grant. Edie Taylor provided historical information regarding the Sisterhood’s critical role in advocating for and funding previous improvements to the synagogue’s two kitchens and highlighting the need for improvements to our kitchens.

Rabbi Carrier announced that he intends to resign as our senior rabbi effective in June 2023. The board and congregation reacted with sadness for our loss, gratitude for Rabbi Carrier’s leadership, and respect for his decision.
