August 29 Board Report

August Board Report

During its August 29 board meeting, the following committee chair appointments were announced: (1) Bryan and Marina Jick as co-chairs of the Guardians Committee; and (2) Todd Levine as chair of the Facilities Committee. Sharp introduced and explained the job responsibilities of two existing, integral staff members, namely, bookkeeper Lisa Lam and Operations Manager Theresa Brekan.

On the financial front, treasurer Joe Johnson and budget committee chair Jack Singer presented budget figures regarding the 2021-22 fiscal year. The bottom line figure was that the shul ran a deficit of $221,198 over the fiscal year, which was about half as large as budgeted. Next, Andrea Mark, VP of Planning, provided an update on the strategic planning process, referencing the strategic plan which is now available to synagogue members on the PJTC website. Mark solicited additional feedback and volunteers in this effort. During the executive session, the board passed a motion to not require, but encourage, mask-wearing at future indoor PJTC gatherings, including our upcoming High Holy Days services, with segregated sections where attendees are required to wear masks.
