Did you know?

Pasadena has a Convalescent Aid Society which lends

out Medical Equipment for in-home use.

by Edie Taylor

Equipment is available on loan to people of all ages who live within the San Gabriel Valley and who are in need of medical equipment. There is no charge or time restraints.

More than 18,000 items are available, such as canes, commodes, walkers, wheelchairs, bath benches, transfer benches, hospital beds, trapezes, and much more. All equipment is repaired, cleaned, and sanitized. If equipment is too heavy or complicated to set up, such as a hospital bed, delivery service is available at no charge.

Donations for deliveries are appreciated. Convalescent Aid Society is a nonprofit organization, entirely funded by private donations and endowments. Monetary and equipment gifts help them to continue providing services to others in need. Donations are tax-deductible. Also, donations of no longer needed equipment are also welcome.

We at PJTC have a wheelchair in each building, plus a walker and crutches on hand should the need arise. These are on long-term loan from CAS.

If you have someone in need of any equipment, please contact the Convalescent Aid Society, 3255 East Foothill Blvd., Pasadena. Their phone number is (626) 793-1696. Their web site is www.convalescentaidsociety.org.
