Men's Club - May

by Fred Rotenberg, President

Shalom PJTC,

Men’s Club has been busy…very busy…with our end of year events. Our Nominating Committee has submitted a slate of officers and board members to be voted upon at our annual meeting in late June. All members will be receiving the proposed slate this month. Additionally, our Bylaws Committee has completed their proposed revisions to the current bylaws, highlighted by gender inclusive language removing any barrier to membership. Kudos to immediate past President Erich Schlecht for chairing both of these committees.

Your Men’s Club hosted an open bar at the recent community dinner and Megillah reading for the adults attending. Jack Singer and yours truly were the evenings’ mixologists.

Now on to the highlight:  Mark your calendars for Sunday evening, May 22, 2022 for our annual Hy Vego Man of the Year Awards Banquet. This year we are going offsite to a beautiful private Auto Museum, “The Flying A Garage.” Below you’ll find a teaser picture of one of the magnificent cars and memorabilia that will be on display for each attendee to get up close and see some of the rarest vehicles in the world. Many of the cars have been on display at some of the most prestigious auto shows (Eg., Concours d’elegance in Pebble Beach) in the country. Our very worthy recipient of this years Man of the Year Award (MOTY) is our VP of Programs, Jack Singer. The MOTY award is presented every year to a member of Men’s Club who has contributed time and effort to MC events, programs and endeavors for the betterment of our Club and the youth organizations we support.

                                       …BUT THAT’S NOT ALL….

This year, Men’s Club will also be presenting the Joshia Pais Lifetime Achievement Award, given occasionally to a member of the greater community who has devoted a significant portion of his life for the betterment of the greater Jewish community. Our honoree is Dr. Stuart Miller, a past President of both PJTC and the Jewish Federation of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys.

This will be an evening you don’t want to miss. In addition to the magnificent surroundings, we’ll be entertained by the Jewish Federation’s Youth Orchestra (one of Men’s Club sponsored youth groups), centerpieces are being produced by USY and a fish and vegetarian dinner will be catered by Simply Perfect Catering. PLEASE NOTE: ATTENDANCE IS LIMITED due to the space constraints of the venue, so please RSVP NOW by following this link https://www.pjtc.net/form/manofyear2022.

And if you’d like to honor our esteemed award recipients please follow this link to our tribute and donation page. All tributes and donations will be recognized in our program booklet. https://givingtools.com/give/389.

Hope to see you soon.

Fred
