Member Recognition Corner - May

Your fellow PJTC congregants wish to recognize:

Sisterhood’s Caring Community Outreach Chair Stacy Ober for her continuing kindness, thoughtfulness and, of course, her delicious home-made Kosher chicken soup that is delivered to many congregants throughout the year.

  • Ruth Kaye and Judy Callahan for a beautiful Oneg following the Social Justice Committee Shabbat services. Ruth outdid herself with an unbelievable assortment of delicious treats!
  • Aty Rotter for assisting Nancy and John Carlton in hosting the Urban Voices Choir for a BBQ dinner prior to their participation in the Social Justice Committee Shabbat services.
  • Annie Sharfstein for opening her home and being a gracious host for Sisterhood’s Women of Valor High Tea on April 24 (Sunday).
  • Aty Rotter and Annie Sharfstein in assisting Nancy Carlton with food preparation, set-up and clean-up for Sisterhood’s Women of Valor High Tea.
  • To Beryl Strauss, Melissa Levy and Emily Fischer, who assisted so much at the Temple’s 2nd Seder evening. Helping 175 guests at four different locations was not an easy task, yet these ladies made sure the Balabustas Caterers got their wonderful food out to everyone. I can’t thank them enough for their assistance and charm, even coming up to the 2nd floor group and checking on them.  They also managed to see that our Security Service guards got fed.
  • Sondra Dreshner for providing interesting and thought provoking D’var Torah at Sisterhood’s monthly board meetings.
  • Michele Browning for creating the vision and implementing all the beautiful decorations for PJTC's 100th Birthday Party.
  • Erin and Jason Manacker for volunteering at PJTC's 100th Birthday party.
  • Betsy Kahn for working with our youth over the course of several months to help them create the incredible Centennial Pop Up Museum. She coordinated congregant interviews, reviewed important historical details, and ensured our youth had a meaningful experience.
  • Barbara Levinson for procuring four beautiful birthday cakes for our centennial celebration.
  • Rabbi Grater, Josh and Kristine Garroway, and Carl Selkin for leading seders as part of PJTC's 2nd Night Super Seder.
  • I wish to recognize Carl Selkin, co-chair of the Social Justice Committee.  Carl has been the leading person to provide all the assistance and accomplishents for our Afghan family’s settlement here in Pasadena.  I am in awe of what the Committee has accomplished under Carl’s leadership.  Carl and his wife Carol are also providing Jewish services at the Pasadena Highlands senior facility on Friday afternoons, as well as leading one of the second night’s seders at PJTC.
