A Message from Cantor Ruth

Dear PJTC, how are you?

During our March 17th  Social Hall I shared with you not only my experience in Israel during my Sabbatical (so far), but also the excitement of what I’ve learned and what I am bringing back to our community. Click here for video

My vision is to create a new space for all of us to immerse ourselves in weekly communal practice - to intentionally prepare for Shabbat. A time to interact with Shabbat the way - I believe - Shabbat was intended: to pause, to rest, to recharge.

This new program is called “Shirah – A Singing Community.” It is a space to learn Jewish text and prayers, sing a lot, self-reflect, and enjoy each other in community. I believe Shabbat is NOT something that “happens” to us when we arrive at shul and sit in the pews or connect virtually. Just like we have to warm up when we are about to exercise, I invite you to join me and together we’ll warm up for Shabbat, using music and text as our glue. Music, especially, can be a very powerful medium.

Every Thursday night starting on April 7th at 8PM we will gather. (Because of Passover, we will pause for two weeks and resume on April 28th.)

So please join me on the 7th for a phenomenal preview night, and then tell your friends and family; you have two weeksJ.

If you are interested in understanding more about this new opportunity, please click HERE for the Social Hall recording.

Lehitra’ot and looking forward to seeing you then,

Cantor Ruth
