Congregational Corner - March

Dear PJTC Congregants,

We've got a busy couple of months ahead!

We're going all out for Purim this year, with opportunities to connect for all ages, family constellations, and social distancing comfort levels. Check your emails for RSVP links.

  • We hope to deliver Sisterhood's Happy Purim goodies to every member household, with help from our religious school families. Make a note to be home on Tuesday evening, March 15 to greet costumed young people bringing Purim cheer to your door step! You'll also be able to leave a bag of non-perishable food/unhoused care kit items for these kids to pick up from you as a little exchange--two mitzvot at once. Be sure to donate to Sisterhood's Happy Purim fundraiser so your name appears on the scrolls for those you wish to let know you are thinking of them
  • Wednesday evening, March 16, join us outdoors at PJTC for a FREE festive kosher Persian meat meal (vegan option available), followed in person or over Zoom by an outdoor Megillah reading and featuring Purim skits created by your fellow congregants, with cocktails sponsored by Men's Club and mocktails by USY. But we're not done yet!
  • Saturday-Sunday, March 19-20 is an outdoor USY & Kadima Purim sleepover (open to grades 3-12, bring your camping tents!)
  • Sunday morning March 20 religious school families will be putting on another Purim CAR-nival, where families can drive through the PJTC parking lot as they enjoy distanced carnival games and win prizes. And we're bring back the popular dunk-the-Rabbi/Cantor-for tzedakah booth!

Also on March 20, in the evening, we'll have our opening Hazak: PJTC's 55+ Social Group meet up at 4:30 PM with introductions, getting-to-know-each-other activities, food and fun.

Right after Purim we continue our centennial celebrations with PJTC's 100th Birthday Party! A pop up "Museum" and history scavenger hunt brought to you by our youth, share your own family history and Jewish traditions for our Time Capsule Project, and enjoy carnival-style birthday activities (outside of your car this time). Fun for the whole family. This will be Sunday, April 3, 10 AM-12:30 PM. Look out for an RSVP link coming soon.

Then, we've got Passover right around the corner. PJTC's 2nd Night Seder is Saturday night, April 16. A fully-catered kosher-for-Passover meal awaits you, and this year you'll get to choose your own seder adventure as our clergy and congregants lead multiple small group seders across the PJTC campus. Again, check your eblasts for information coming soon!

Questions? Concerns? Please reach out. It takes a village!
