Congregational Corner

Dear Congregants,

All I can say is, “WOW!” As you know we turned Into the Mitzvah Day into an at-home event. Disappointing, and yet… we had 57 families sign up to receive an Into the Mitzvah Day kit! Through these kits, we engaged over 150 people in our community, from singles to multigenerational families. These kits had numerous projects, including no-sew blankets to comfort dogs at animal shelters; planting flowers, parsley, and milkweed for Tu B’shvat (and a Tu B’shvat scavenger hunt!); butterfly decorations for a local hospital; greeting cards for the community; care kits for the unhoused community; information about the Social Justice Committee’s work with Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society; plastic and water inventories from Tikkun HaYam; and a clothing drive. There was just one thing missing from the day: kickball. Don’t fret! We will do our very best to make kickball happen this year, we just have to wait a little while longer. We’ve got one heck of a community here, and I’m so thankful we were all able to join safely together (from apart) to fulfill so many mitzvot.

This event was a success thanks to a number of people and groups here at PJTC. THANK YOU…

…to all of our families who helped sponsor the Mitzvah Kits!

…to all our participants!

…to all of my fellow staff here at PJTC!

…to PJ Library for donating seeds!

…to Repair the Sea for providing information on Tikkun HaYam!

…to Sue Sanford for providing yards upon yards of fleece for blankets!

…to SJC for providing information on HIAS and what you’re doing for the Afghan refugee family!

…to Men’s Club for sponsoring!

…to Sisterhood, not just for sponsoring, but for stepping up and helping on the day of the event when I had a family emergency and couldn’t be there in person!

We could not have made the event happen without all of this support!

The year isn't over yet! I look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming events:
