Youth Update

Hello Everyone!

I can’t believe we’re almost halfway through the school year already! This year, our teens have already created and executed so many programs for USY (like our Test Kitchens and Museum Staff Meetings for the Pop-Up Cafe and Museum at the end of January, Puppy Party, and Israel & Antisemitism Program) and Kadima (such as the Game Show Galore and Juggling Judaism Movie Night). We’ve had a great engagement (over 30 youth at some events!) and wonderful feedback as well. It brings me so much joy to see our youth creating new friendships and strengthening old ones at USY and Kadima events.

We still have many programs up our sleeves as we enter the second half of the year, although our calendar is looking a little different than we originally intended. I’m still incredibly excited to present our Into the Mitzvah Day event coming up! Think of it like USY’s Into the Day (an all-day collection of Social Justice and Tikkun Olam projects) meets PJTC’s Mitzvah Day (which is also a collaboration to fulfill similar projects) meets Judaism in the Home! Since we are unable to host an in-person event at a park (where we cannot easily enforce masks or safety precautions) for the kickball tournament at this time (though we look forward to hosting a similar program later in the year!), we are pivoting to provide a number of projects you can do from the comfort of your home! From making decorations to brighten up a local hospital, planting for Tu B’shvat, clothing drive, and plenty more, we’ll have ways to engage people young and old in projects helping our community! Are you as excited as I am? You can sign up here to pick up a package.

Best, Emily
