Men's Club: The Madness of March is Over

Hello PJTC:

The Madness of March is over and Men’s Club once again had a busy month. Following the successful landing of JPL’s Mars Rover came the great presentation of the missions to Mars by Lou Friedman and Daniel Zayas. In detailing the missions by China, UAE and the USA, Lou brought us current on the how and the why for each mission. Daniel brought us every thrilling moment from Mission control, hearing his voice during and through landing as well as explaining with graphs, charts and photos what the rover and helicopter will be doing. If you were not one of the 75+ folks who tuned in, then follow this link for a replay...you won't be disappointed!

The NCAA men’s basketball tournament saw your Men’s Club venture into our first March Madness Pool. 10% of the proceeds will be used to benefit our various youth organizations. Congratulations to the winners!

While April will be a relatively quiet month for us, planning and implementation of our special “Service to Community” awards dinner slated for May 23 is ongoing. Yes, I said dinner. Check the Flame, the weekly eblast and your email in-box for upcoming sign-up information as well as how you can order dinner and wine delivered (or available for pickup) just before the event so we can all “dine” together. Marcia Alper and Terry Tornek are our two fantastic honorees. Immediately prior to the event we will be welcoming Congressman Adam Schiff for a Town Hall update from the 28th District. During the dinner event we are honored to welcome Congresswoman Judy Chu of the 27th district, State Senator Anthony Portantino, State Assembly Member Chris Holden and Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger (to name a few) who will help us fete our honorees.

Finally, my personal congratulations and best wishes for success to PJTC incoming Board President Stacey Sharp and the rest of the newly elected Board members. PJTC continues it’s tradition of hard working, dedicated and enthusiastic lay leadership.

Shalom,
Fred
