Naama Philosof

Gabbai

Naama Philosof is honored to serve PJTC as Gabbai, Clergy Assistant, B’nai Mitzvah Tutor, and Kittah Zayin Teacher. In each of these roles, she brings her deep love for Judaism, the Hebrew language, and community building. Naama is passionate about guiding students and families through meaningful Jewish milestones and helping them feel confident and connected as they grow in their Jewish learning and identity.

Originally from Haifa, Israel, Naama moved to Pasadena eight years ago with her husband Alon and their three children - Tamari, Uri, and Ofri, who are growing up immersed in Jewish community life. She brings an authentic Israeli spirit to everything she does—whether in the classroom, on the bimah, or behind the scenes. She views Jewish education as a mission and a privilege, and she’s grateful to be part of the PJTC community, where her passion for teaching, language, and spirituality can truly flourish.

Naama holds a Master of Science degree in Neurobiology and Education, combining her understanding of how people learn with her dedication to meaningful, student-centered instruction. She has dedicated her career to education and community engagement, both in Israel and the United States. She has held leadership roles in Jewish schools and organizations, including teaching Hebrew, developing curriculum, mentoring educators, and running enrichment programs for youth and families.

At PJTC, she is especially excited to support clergy and families throughout the B’nai Mitzvah journey and to help each student find their connection to Torah, tefillah, and tradition.

When she’s not teaching or organizing programs, you can find her enjoying Israeli music, hiking with her family, or cooking up something delicious to share.
