Overview of the Program

At the core of LBSRS is a curriculum built around Jewish literacy, Hebrew language learning focused on understanding the siddur (prayer book), Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), and community building.

The 2019-20 program will take place on Sunday mornings (9:30-12:30), Tuesday afternoons (4:00-6:00), and selected Friday evenings (dates and time vary by grade).   On Sundays, each class will have a 30 minute recess, as well as a healthy snack.

The specific schedule will be:

  • Pre-k through 2nd grade:  Sunday School classes from 9:30-12:30 on Sunday mornings.  Monthly Tot Shabbat and K-2 Family Shabbat services. Services are not required for these age groups, but families are encouraged to attend.
  • 3rd through 7th grade:  Classes on Sunday mornings (9:30-12:30) and Tuesday afternoons (4:00-6:00). Friday night programming will be held five times during the year; attendance is required.
  • PJ Teen Center (8th through 12th grade): One Sunday per month, the teens will have the opportunity to debate hot topics and dive into current events, all using a Jewish lens. Every class session will provide ample time for peer bonding and empowering the teens to shape their own experiences.
