Susan Auerbach Bio



A congregant since 1987, Susan chaired the PJTC Spiritual Needs Task Force and has been active in the Adult Education, Rosh Chodesh, Social Justice, and Rabbi Search Committees. She recently retired as a professor of education at California State University, Northridge.

Since her son Noah’s suicide in 2013, Susan has been an advocate for suicide loss survivors, suicide prevention and mental health awareness through writing, public speaking, and service on the advisory boards of Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services Survivors After Suicide and the LA County Suicide Prevention Network. She is the author of I’ll Write Your Name on Every Beach: A Mother’s Quest for Comfort, Courage & Clarity After Suicide Loss (Jessica Kingsley Publishing, 2017) and the blog Walking the Mourner’s Path After a Child’s Suicide.
