Teen Leaders





















Abby Schlecht, President

Abby Schlecht is a senior at John Marshall Fundamental High School. She attended Weizmann Day School and Blair Middle/High School for elementary and middle school. Abby joined USY three years ago, and it quickly became an important part of her life. She is proud to be going into her third year on board, having been Membership VP in the past, and starting her second year as President. In addition to participating in USY, Abby plays piano, acts, sings, reads Torah and Haftarah for the synagogue, volunteers at a local no-kill shelter for cats, is president for her school's Sexuality and Gender Equality Club, participates in the Young Adult Counsel for the local theater company A Noise Within, volunteers in the Cat and Rabbit/Guinea Pig Socialization departments at the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA and is a part of her school's National Honor Society. In the upcoming year, Abby plans to get ready for college and continuing a Jewish life therein.


Ethan Sharp, Executive/Programming VP

Ethan Sharp is a junior at Crescenta Valley High School, and will be the Executive/Programming VP for the 2017-2018 school year. He is excited to help with bigger programming ideas. He has attended Camp Ramah in California for the past 8 summers. He loves to attend USY regional events and help plan chapter events. At school, he runs Cross country and track for the team. He is very excited about the 2017-2018 year!


Isaac Tragarz, Rel/Ed

Shalom! Isaac Tragarz will be in the Religious/Education position on the USY board. Isaac has been on board for 2 years (including Kadima Kommittee), while being at-large member and Bubbe, respectively. Outside of USY, Isaac enjoys playing videogames and watching Netflix/Hulu. Isaac will be going to be going to the new CSarts performing arts high school next year. Isaac will be leading the USY shabbat and creating text-studies about various Jewish topics at many events. Isaac is looking forward to trying to incorporate pride into his discussions on Jewish identity and talking about Keshet. He is looking forward for the new year at USY!!


Talia Harris, Israel co-VP

Talia Harris is a senior at Milken Community Schools and is the new Israel co-VP. She is dedicated to teaching and inspiring the USY and PJTC community about Israel. Talia has been at this synagogue for six years and she is very excited to create events and activities that allows people to learn and love Israel.

Leah Laska-Sandleman, SATO and Part of Rel/Ed

Leah Laska-Sandleman is a 9th grader at La Canada High School. She will be doing the position of SATO and part of Rel/Ed. Leah hopes she can make the world a better place with her position. This is her first year on the USY Board and she is thankful to be able to have this kind of opportunity. She also is interested in learning more to the Friday and Saturday services and reading Torah and Haftarah. Somethings you might also want to know about her is, she loves yoga, cannot stand P.E., has a passion for music, her least favorite subject is Science, and her favorite color is mint green.


Gabe Lujan, Regional Events Liaison (plans interchapter programs and publicizes regional events)

My name is Gabe Lujan and I am a senior in high school. I am the Regional Events Liaison for our chapter. I help organize interchapter events for our region. I like long walks on the beach...but that is besides the point. I am a big part of USY and I love going to regional events and am really excited to be a part of the PJTC board.


Leo Metivier, Bubbe (in charge of food programs)

Leo Metivier is an 8th grader. This is his first year on the USY Board, but last year he was on Kadima Kommittee and he very much enjoyed it. This year he is the position of bubbe. He makes food for all the events. He chose this position because he loves cooking. He is looking forward to working with the Melissa Levy and the USY board members.

Daniel Sigoloff, Co-Videographer

Daniel Sigoloff is an 8th grader at Sierra Madre Middle School. His position on the USY board is film making with Shane Balian. Daniel enjoys using his camera equipment to make films. He is looking forward to working with Melissa.
