We offer an opportunity for you to view interesting and thought-provoking Jewish-themed documentary films and to share views and ideas with others. The movie for March is Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story. Actor Dustin Hoffman narrates this decade-spanning documentary that highlights the contributions of Jewish Americans to the most American sport of them all: baseball. Highlights include a rare interview with legendary pitcher Sandy Koufax. For more information, contact Jerry Halpert

When services for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begin on Sunday evening, Sept. 14, we will turn a new leaf—literally—as we open a brand new High Holy Days prayer book, Mahzor Lev Shalem. This Mahzor, published recently by the Rabbinical Assembly, is the result of over ten years of work by a committee of scholars rabbis, and cantors. The English translation is both faithful to the Hebrew text and is more accessible than in years past. This Mahzor also features considerably more transliteration of prayers than our old Mahzor.
To bring Mahzor Lev Shalem to PJTC this upcoming High Holy Days, we must rely on the generosity and participation of all our members. We are asking each of you to participate in this special fundraiser which will enhance our High Holy Day services and help sustain all our programming throughout the year. Contributions can be made in memory or in honor of a loved one, in tribute to a special person, or to celebrate a happy occasion. All books sponsored will have a nameplate including your dedication.
